The first Divisional Coordination Committee meeting for the year 2026 of the Manmunai West Divisional Secretariat was held on 30th January 2026, organized by the Divisional Secretary Mrs. Namasivayam Sathyananthi, under the chairmanship of the Hon. Kandasamy Prabhu, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Divisional Coordination Committee.
The meeting was attended by Hon. Members of Parliament Gnanamuthu Srinesan and Ilayathambi Srinath; the Hon. Chairman of the Manmunai West Divisional Council Thambipillai Gopalapillai; the Accountant; Deputy Director of Planning; Administrative Officer; Administrative Officer for Grama Officers; departmental representatives; representatives of community-level organizations; and officers of the Divisional Secretariat, among others.
The meeting commenced with a presentation by the Divisional Secretary on the development activities currently being implemented and future plans. Subsequently, the minutes of the previous Divisional Coordination Committee meeting were proposed and approved.
During the meeting:
- Key issues such as illegal liquor production and sales, illegal sand mining, and wild elephant threats in the Manmunai West Division were extensively discussed.
- Detailed discussions were held on ongoing development projects in the Manmunai West Division and those planned for future implementation.
- The importance of joint contributions from government departments, local government institutions, and community-level organizations was emphasized.
- The need to prioritize public needs when planning development activities was highlighted.
- A review was conducted on the progress of decisions taken at the previous Divisional Coordination Committee meeting.
- The necessity of strengthening inter-departmental coordination to enhance the effectiveness of administrative actions was stressed.
- Recommendations were presented to ensure the timely implementation of future development activities
