The second Divisional Coordination Committee meeting of the Manmunai West Divisional Secretariat for the year 2026 was held on 13.05.2026, chaired by Hon. Kandasamy Prabhu, the Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Divisional Coordination Committee, and organized by Mrs. Namasivayam Sathyanandhi, the Divisional Secretary.
The meeting was attended by Honorable Members of Parliament Gnanamuthu Sreenesan and Ilayathambi Sreenath, along with the Chairman of the Manmunai West Pradeshiya Sabha Thambipillai Gopalapillai; the Accountant; the Deputy Planning Director; the Administrative Officer for Grama Niladhari; departmental representatives; representatives of community-level organizations; and Divisional Secretariat officers.
The meeting began with a presentation by the divisional secretary on the current development activities and future plans. The participants then proposed and seconded the joint report from the previous Divisional Coordination Committee meeting.
During the meeting, explanations were presented regarding the development projects to be carried out in the Manmunai West area, and the permits for them were discussed.The meeting also delved into significant issues such as illegal liquor production and sale in the area, illegal soil mining, and human-elephant conflict.
The progress of the decisions taken at the previous meeting was reviewed, and necessary recommendations were presented to implement future development activities in a timely manner.
