To celebrate World Environment Day, a practical training on "Vermicomposting" was held on 09.06.2026 under the leadership of Divisional Secretary Mrs. Namasivayam Sathiyanandhi with the aim of promoting sustainable food production.
In this event, divisional secretariat officers and farmers from the Vavunathivu Divisional Secretariat Division participated.
Engineer Mr. Rila Marsook participated as the resource person for the training and provided process explanations regarding the importance of vermicomposting, its uses, and preparation methods.
Furthermore, three selected farmers were provided with equipment kits for making vermicompost to promote organic farming.
